Custom Challenge Coin of the Month – April 2023
We’ve never been afraid to be bold or stand out in terms of our designs. At Unit Coins, we love the opportunity to play with layout, color, and overall aesthetics. With six different miniature insignias present on the coin’s face, this month’s coin is a glimmering example of our attention to both detail and composition. April’s coin was designed to honor the Special Operations Task Force of East Africa and is a testament to their skill and cunning. This coin also boasts an interesting shape, with two alternating half-moon cutouts on either side and resembling that of a bronzed shield. Our team can cater to any specific shape or finish, be it gold, bronze, or silver, to perfectly encapsulate your group or unit being celebrated. Do you want to remember a particular group or found family? Interested in a token that encapsulates a particular moment in time spent with your brothers and sisters in arms? Unit Coins is here to help. Our team would love to collaborate and consult with you to develop the best design possible to remember those you respect and appreciate.
Design Features & Details
This month’s coin is particularly unique in that each side of the coin’s face is remarkably different from the other. Both are extremely eyecatching and reflective of the Special Operations Task Force. The first side of the coin’s face features a brushed bronze plating with the continent of Africa embossed over top. It also features 8 decorative bolts reminiscent of a shield. Over the top of the shield lays one bronze trident with one arrow and one spear crossed behind it. All together this cumulates into a particularly striking visual.
Meanwhile, the opposite side of the coin’s face is shocked full of intricate detail work and symbols. First, the face of the coin is finished with a glossy back plating. In the center is the symbol of a gladiator helmet adorned with the stars and stripes of the US flag. Encircling the helmet are varying symbols and insignias representing the United States Air Force operations in South Africa. The shield of the United States Air Forces in Europe is positioned just below the enlarged helmet, placed just above the words “South Africa.” Then at the top of the coin’s face reads “Special Operations Task Force.” All together this coin is reflective of many of the design specs and abilities our team is able to provide. Much like the Special Operations Task Force, this coin too is bold, courageous, and dauntless.
Special Operations Task Force & The United States Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa
This month’s coin celebrates the hard work of the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE-AFAFRICA), specifically, Air Forces Africa. USAFE-AFAFRICA is responsible for both sending and commanding Air Force units pledged to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) where they plan, control, and execute operations in all of Europe, Asia, and Africa. As of April 20th, 2012, USAFE-AFARICA assumed its current position following the inactivation of the 17th Air Force. Currently, 35,000 civilian employees, active-duty personnel, and Air Reserve personnel are assigned to USAFE-AFARICA’s command. Our team is proud to showcase this particular group as they have worked to maintain peace and order overseas. Should you have any particular group or unit that also warrants a special keepsake in memory of a job well done, we encourage you to reach out and strike a conversation with our team of designers and craftsmen.
