CUSTOM CHALLENGE COIN – JULY 2021

Custom Challenge CoinAt Unit Coins, we commend hard work and acknowledge a job well done. Our coins speak to not only the superior craftsmanship and design prowess of our team, but also serves as a means to honor those who have selfless served in the armed forces as well as the organizations that have shaped them. Our team understands the significance, tradition, and culture surrounding custom military challenge coins and would love to partner with you in turning your design ideas into reality. July’s coin of the month recognizes the dedication of the United States Air Force, specifically that of the Dyess Air Force Base. A mainstay of the US Airforce in 1942, the Dyess Air Force Base has served as a valuable asset from World War II to the Global War on terrorism. This month’s coin encapsulates the history and legacy of this base and the role it has played in securing and maintaining our freedoms.

Air Force Custom Coin Design Specs

Timeless Silver, vibrant blue detailing, and use of the United States Air Force insignia and emblems are just some of the features that comprise this month’s coin. Must like the hardworking servicemen and women in the Air Force, our team aims high to deliver the best quality product possible. Superior service requires superior craftsmanship and our team is willing to answer the call.

On one side of the coin’s face is a sharp blue border encircling the coin’s face with a smaller blue circle nestled in the center. Also, in the center if the coin lies the United States Army Air Force Shoulder Sleeve Insignia with a pair of yellow wings poised in flight. Embossed across the coin’s face encircling its outmost border is the slogan, “Lasting Heritage… Limited Horizons” in silver letters. Then, encircling the Air Force Shoulder Sleeve Insignia are the US Air Force Ranks and Insignias, from airman to Command Chief Master Sergeant. Finally, at the bottom of the coin’s face is one of the first airplanes, similar to the Wright Flyer.

Meanwhile, the opposite side of the coin’s face is a similar blue border with the phrase “DYESS AFB 2008 Dining Out,” in fond remembrance of one of the US Air Force’s traditions. Both Dining-in and Dining-out provide a ceremonious occasion and atmosphere for Air Force members to meet and socialize in formal military functions. Again, the use of all Air Force Insignia Ranks and Insignias decorate the inner grey circle of the coin. Centered in the coin lies the navy-blue symbol of the United States Air Force. Positioned just beneath are two state-of-the-art aircrafts in mid-flight.

July’s coin of the month is representative of our design skill, and reverence for the Air Force, their traditions, and their bard work. Do you have a battalion, squadron, or group you would like to honor with a custom military challenge coin? Our team would be happy to help translate your ideas into a coin that is truly one of a kind. Our team can meet any specification and offer a variety of custom shapes to best suit your needs.

custom challenge coinAbout the Dyess Air Force Base

The Dyess Air Force Base is located 7 miles out from Abilene, Texas and has been an asset to the United States Airforce since 1942. Named after Lieutenant Colonel William Dyess, the Dyess AFB is a 6,409-acre base with both military and civilian people totaling over 13,000. The base also houses the 7th bomb wing which is compiled of four groups. There are two squadrons, the 28th and 9th Bomb Squadrons, both of which fly the B-1B. The 28th Bomb Squadron also serves as the Air Force schoolhouse for all B-1B aircrew. The base itself is responsible for employing roughly 5,000 people, which also makes it the largest employer in the Fort Worth area. The Dyess Air Force Base also brings in about $310 million per year in terms of economic impact, which greatly aids the local community. With such a legacy, we at Unit Coins are proud to have the opportunity to honor and acknowledge this pillar of the US Air Force this month.
